Abstract: This study aims to identify the key factors influencing the prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) among nursing staff working in public hospitals within the Capital Secretariat. To achieve the study objectives, a descriptive-analytical approach was utilized, and data were collected through a structured questionnaire distributed to a representative sample of nurses across various medical and clinical departments.
The findings revealed a high prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders among nurses, with physical and organizational factors being the primary contributors. Key factors included heavy physical exertion during patient lifting and positioning, prolonged standing in awkward working postures, extended working hours, lack of assistive movement equipment, and high overall workload. Based on these findings, the study recommends improving ergonomics in healthcare environments, providing modern patient-handling devices, organizing continuous training programs on safe body mechanics, and optimizing work schedules to reduce physical strain and professional burnout.
