The Role of Implementing the International Patient Safety Goals in Improving the Quality of Healthcare Services at the European Hospital

​The international goals for patient safety are considered one of the basic tools for improving quality in hospitals, and accordingly the current study aimed to know the reality of applying the standards of the international goals for patient safety, and their impact on the quality of health services during the years (2020-2021), with the aim of increasing the awareness of hospital managers of the importance of applying these Standards to encourage the conversion of other public and private hospitals to apply quality systems and improve the national health status.
​This study can be considered a descriptive analytical inferential study, the data of which were collected using a questionnaire that included (38) questions, which were distributed to a random sample of (100) employees, from which (90) questionnaires were retrieved, with a response rate of (90%) and were statistically treated by using a program The Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS, V.21) relied on analytical descriptive statistics to examine study variables, frequencies, arithmetic means, standard deviations, correlation and regression analysis, and Kruskal-Walls analysis, in order to process data and information.
​The study found that the European private hospital applies the standards of international goals for patient safety with varying positive levels, and it was the highest level of application of patient identification standards, and the lowest level of application in the standards to ensure safe surgery. The study also showed that the average quality of health services at the European Hospital was also high. The study demonstrated a statistically significant effect towards the application of the standards of the international goals for patient safety on the quality of health services in the European hospital, where the percentage of its impact on the quality of health services reached 59%. The study also found that there were no significant differences towards the implementation of the international goals for patient safety due to demographic variables.
​The study presented a set of recommendations to public and private hospitals in the areas of necessity and importance of other hospitals 'commitment to implementing the standards of international goals for patient safety, and assessing the levels of their application, with the aim of improving the quality of health services in Yemeni public and private hospitals.
