Assessment of Nurses' Knowledge and Practices Toward the Prevention of Catheter-Associated Urinary Tract Infection at Al-Thawrah Hospital in Sana'a City.

This study aimed to assess nurses' knowledge and practices toward the prevention of catheter-associated urinary tract infection (CAUTI) at Al-Thawrah General Hospital in Sana'a City, Yemen. A descriptive cross-sectional study design was used. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire to evaluate nurses' knowledge and practices and to examine the relationship between demographic characteristics and the level of knowledge and practice regarding CAUTI prevention.
The study emphasized that preventing catheter-associated urinary tract infections depends on strict adherence to infection prevention and control measures, the use of aseptic techniques during catheter insertion and maintenance, timely catheter removal, and continuous education of nursing staff. The findings highlighted the importance of strengthening nurses' knowledge and clinical practices through ongoing training programs to improve patient safety, reduce CAUTI incidence, and enhance the quality of nursing care in hospitals.
