Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the impact of inflation on the efficiency of healthcare services in public hospitals in Yemen during the period 2010-2021. This was achieved by examining the relationship between inflation rates and the efficiency of healthcare services, and determining the extent to which economic changes affect the quality and sustainability of healthcare delivery.

> The study relied on econometric analysis using an economic model (EViews) to illustrate the relationship between inflation and the efficiency of healthcare services, based on available financial and health data for the specified period. Descriptive and statistical analysis methods were also used to assess the extent to which public hospitals were affected by high inflation rates.

> The study reached several important results, most notably: the negative impact of inflation on the efficiency of healthcare services, as rising inflation rates led to increased operating costs and a decline in the quality of healthcare provided. It also caused a shortage of financial resources for hospitals, which affected the availability of essential medicines and medical supplies. Additionally, the performance level of medical staff declined due to low wages compared to inflation rates, causing doctor migration and weak operational efficiency. Furthermore, the impact of inflation varied among hospitals, with hospitals in major cities being more affected than those in rural areas. The study concluded with the necessity of adopting more sustainable economic and health policies to counter the effects of inflation, such as increasing government funding, restructuring wages, and implementing effective strategies to maintain the stability of health services.
