Abstract

Yemen Ejar is a peer-to-peer digital rental marketplace designed for the Yemeni context, where informal rental practices and limited trust mechanisms make it difficult for individuals and small vendors to rent items safely and efficiently. The system aims to enable users to list rentable items, discover available inventory, request bookings, and manage rental agreements through a structured workflow that improves transparency and reduces manual coordination.
The platform is implemented as a modern web application using a Single Page Application (SPA) frontend built with React and Vite, and a serverless backend powered by Supabase (PostgreSQL and Edge Functions). Core business processes covered in the documentation include account verification (KYC), booking requests and approvals, contract generation, deposits and penalties handling, and role-based access controls enforced at the database level.
A REST-style API layer and security controls (including row-level security policies) are described to protect user data and enforce authorization.
Testing is documented across local and staging environments, including unit tests for critical backend logic (e.g., late-fee calculation) and additional verification activities to validate key requirements. The system is deployed to a staging environment on Vercel connected to a
Supabase instance.
