Abstract

This study aims to investigate the health complications resulting from spinal anesthesia, focusing specifically on post-anesthetic headache and back pain experienced by patients in public hospitals within Sana'a City. A field-based research methodology was employed, gathering data via a structured questionnaire administered to a cohort of physicians across these hospitals.

The study analyzed several contributing factors to the onset of these symptoms, such as patient age, gender, general health status, and the specific anesthetic administration technique utilized. Additionally, it reviewed preventive and therapeutic strategies that can be implemented to mitigate these complications. The findings revealed that a significant proportion of patients suffer from headache and back pain following spinal anesthesia, with these symptoms frequently linked to the execution technique and the clinical experience of the practitioners.

The study provides recommendations aimed at reducing these complications through the optimization of anesthetic techniques, the elevation of medical awareness, and the enhancement of training programs for physicians and healthcare providers. Furthermore, it emphasizes the necessity for anesthesiologists and anesthesia technicians to prioritize rigorous postoperative medical follow-up to ensure patient well-being and minimize the side effects associated with spinal anesthesia.
