The Role of Electronic Medical Records Management in Improving the Quality of Healthcare in Public Hospitals in the Capital Municipality

This study aimed to identify the role of electronic medical records (EMR) management in improving the quality of healthcare in public hospitals in the Capital Municipality. To achieve the study's objectives, relevant literature was reviewed and necessary data was collected. A questionnaire was used as a tool to measure the study variables, targeting (80) subjects distributed to a purposive sample of public hospital employees in the Capital Municipality, of which (60) questionnaires were valid for analysis. Accordingly, data processing and analysis were conducted using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS).
The study reached several findings, including: there is a weak relationship between electronic medical records and the dimensions of healthcare quality (reliability, responsiveness, empathy, and assurance/safety), and there is no relationship between EMR management and the tangibility dimension of healthcare quality. The study concluded by proposing a set of recommendations, the most important of which is to enhance focus on electronic medical records to achieve healthcare quality dimensions in the surveyed public hospitals.
