The Role of Total Quality Management Application in Employee Productivity: An Applied Study on Almarai

Abstract

 This study aims to examine the role of Total Quality Management (TQM) implementation in enhancing employee productivity within the industrial sector, with an applied study on Almarai Company. The research investigates the effect of TQM dimensions (customer focus, leadership commitment, employee participation, strategic planning, continuous improvement) on employee productivity from the perspective of Almarai employees.

The study employed both the analytical and descriptive approaches. The research population consisted of Almarai employees. A total of 102 questionnaires were distributed to the targeted sample, of which 100 valid questionnaires were returned, yielding a 98% response rate. The questionnaire served as the primary data-collection tool. Multiple regression analysis was used to test the study hypotheses.

The study produced several key findings, the most important of which is the presence of a significant positive and influential relationship between the concept of TQM and employee productivity levels at Almarai Company. The results further revealed a significant positive correlation and impact between the implementation of TQM with emphasis on customer focus and productivity levels. The study also confirmed a significant positive relationship and effect between the overall implementation of TQM practices and employee productivity.

The study concluded with several recommendations, most notably the need to strengthen the organization’s understanding of the effective role TQM plays in improving productivity, to enhance employee participation in strategic planning programs, and to emphasize the importance of enabling employees to contribute ideas for improving production and achieving organizational objectives. Additionally, the study recommended accelerating the fulfillment of customer needs and expectations.
