Abstract

The role of September 21 University in achieving sustainable health development This study aimed to highlight the role of September 21 University in contributing to achieving sustainable development in Yemen, identifying the university’s educational outcomes and the extent to which it serves the goals of sustainable development, and clarifying the importance of sustainable health development in developing health sector services in Yemen. It used the historical, descriptive, and analytical approach to review the university’s activities . From the date of its establishment to the present time, relying on reports, statistics, and interviews with university officials during the study period, this study reached a set of results, the most prominent of which were: -The university contributed 14.8% to closing the gap in the Ministry of Health’s 2025 index for the number of doctors in the health sector. - The university contributed 4% to closing the gap in the Ministry of Health’s 2025 index for the number of nurses per 10,000 people. - The university contributed to the graduation of more than 1,681 male and female students in various other medical specialties. -The university contributed to practicing practice tests for more than 50,580 students in various medical specialties with the aim of reducing medical errors and increasing the efficiency of medical staff in the labor market. -The university staff published many scientific, medical and applied research in many local, Arab and international journals. - The university has organized and contributed to many medical and non-medical scientific conferences, seminars and workshops in various events. Among the most prominent recommendations: - A recommendation to the Ministry of Health to support the university in facilitating clinical training so that the graduate staff can acquire the necessary training skills in hospitals. -A recommendation for higher education to support the university in providing buildings, supplies, equipment, and financial and employment funds to achieve stability for the university. - The Ministry of Health should benefit from the university’s scientific research, as it helps solve many of the problems that the health sector suffers from.
